Living in Lafayette-West Lafayette
Small town feel, big city resources
Greater Lafayette has something for everyone... historic districts featuring elegant homes and quaint shops, state-of-the-art industries, a world class university and a respected community college, excellent public and private schools, over 200 different restaurants, and, thanks to the 54 different nationalities represented in the community, Greater Lafayette boasts a cosmopolitan atmosphere and cultural events that you just wouldn't expect to find in the middle of Indiana!
Greater Lafayette is a great place to call home. In 1995, Lafayette was named an All-America City by the National Civic League (and coincidentally, that was the same year Lafayette-Online.com was born). This community has a strong tradition of civic participation in elections, neighborhood associations, and civic and arts groups. You can see the community pride all around town, from the new streetscaping in Downtown Lafayette to the new development on the West Side. We're not only growing, but planning ahead to manage the growth beautifully.
Greater Lafayette (pop. 85,175) is conveniently located between Chicago and Indianapolis on I-65. (Lafayette is about two hours southeast of Chicago, IL, and an hour northwest of Indianapolis, IN.) See map.
